About Joseph Howard, MD

Dr. Howard joined SNH Internal Medicine

Associates (SNHIMA) in 2026 as an Allergist and Immunologist. He joined the practice directly
after completing his fellowship training in Allergy and Immunology.
During his training, Dr. Howard completed several impactful quality improvement and
educational initiatives, including implementing a standardized informed consent process for
medication challenges and providing educational presentations to primary care physicians to help
ensure patients receive exceptional allergy care even before seeing a specialist.
Dr. Howard earned his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center
College of Medicine. He then completed both his Pediatrics residency and Allergy/Immunology
fellowship at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
Originally from Memphis, Tennessee, Dr. Howard first fell in love with New Hampshire while
attending Dartmouth College. He recently relocated to New Hampshire and looks forward to
welcoming his wife and their cats to their new home. Outside of medicine, he enjoys hiking,
spending time with his cats, and staying current with the latest advances in allergy and
immunology through ongoing education and professional conferences.
Dr. Howard’s first exposure to Allergy and Immunology was as a patient. Having been diagnosed
with asthma, eczema, and food allergies at a young age, he understands firsthand the challenges
that allergic conditions can create in everyday life. His personal experiences inspired him to
pursue a career in Allergy and Immunology, where he now has the privilege of helping patients
identify their triggers and develop collaborative treatment plans that improve symptoms, quality
of life, and confidence.
Dr. Howard is passionate about building lasting relationships with patients and families. He is
grateful for the opportunity to partner with them in identifying the causes of their symptoms,
developing personalized treatment plans, and helping them return to the activities they enjoy
most.

Dr. Howard finds inspiration in the success stories of his patients. Whether it is a child who can
fully participate in sports because their asthma is under control, a college student who feels
comfortable dining out with friends despite food allergies, or a parent finally finding relief from
chronic seasonal allergies, these meaningful outcomes reinforce his commitment to patient care.
He is also inspired by the outstanding physicians who mentored him throughout his journey as
both a patient and a trainee. Their example taught him the importance of combining evidence-
based medicine with shared decision-making to create individualized treatment plans that best
meet each patient's unique needs and goals.
